Our Firm
The three members of Peretz, Chesal & Herrmann PL (PCH) bring more than 75 years of combined legal experience and expertise to the practice of intellectual property law. In 2010, U.S. News ranked PCH as a “First Tier” firm in Miami for intellectual property and further recognized PCH as the only “First Tier” IP firm in South Florida with a national ranking. Each PCH member is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in IP law, with Michael Chesal currently serving as the Chair of the Florida Bar’s IP Law Board Certification Committee.
The firm's practice covers a wide expanse of the IP landscape. Steven Peretz concentrates on IP litigation, both in South Florida and nationally, and has obtained multi-million dollar judgments and settlements in patent, trademark, and copyright cases, in addition to obtaining emergency injunctive relief in numerous trademark cases. With over 1000 trademark registrations under his supervision, Michael Chesal brings a commanding capability to his domestic and international trademark portfolio practice, and spearheaded the Florida Bar’s successful initiative to overhaul the state’s trademark statute, resulting in the Florida's legislature's enactment of the first substantive amendments to the Florida Trademark Act in over 15 years. Leora Herrmann not only litigates complex IP cases across the country -- including successful appeals before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York, TROs against counterfeiters, and seven-figure damage awards -- but additionally focuses her practice on transactional IP matters, such as sophisticated software licensing agreements involving the U.S. Armed Forces.
All three PCH members have played important leadership roles in the Florida IP legal community. Steven has been a featured speaker on IP law at nearly a dozen Florida Bar seminars and meetings. Both Steven and Michael have served as Chairs of the Florida Bar's IP Law Committee and Leora now serves as a Vice Chair. Leora has spoken at national and Florida legal conferences and co-chaired the Florida Bar's “First Annual IP Law Symposium,” an advanced conference which drew speakers from across the country and garnered the highest attendance of any CLE program in the Committee's history.
Taken together, PCH's attorneys offer an unparalleled caliber of legal experience, sophistication, service and value in identifying, protecting, licensing and enforcing valuable intellectual property rights and assets of their clients.
